Artist Management Services: Louvre Abu Dhabi Announces First Prize for Contemporary Art

Artist Management Services, the Louvre Abu Dhabi, in partnership with Swiss watchmaker Richard Mille, has announced its first prize for contemporary art.

The Richard Mille Art Prize will raise $50,000 for an artist selected from the public call. The shortlist of approximately four to six artists will also host an exhibition called “Louvre Abu Dhabi Art Exhibition 2021” at a dedicated forum for contemporary art districts at the museum.

The award will be launched in November, just in time for the UAE’s 50th-anniversary celebrations, and the show will run until March 2022.

“We already know that world-class artists live among us. This new award and accompanying exhibition will help celebrate 50 years of achievement in our country and look forward to the next 50 years to highlight the best artist in the UAE, today Talent, said the chairman of the Culture and Tourism -Abu Dhabi Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, who is responsible for overseeing the Louvre Abu Dhabi.

Any Artist Management Services working in the UAE is eligible for the award, which will be selected through public solicitation and jury selection. The theme of the first year “memory, time and territory” asked the artists to reflect on the enormous changes this country has gone through since the country’s inception, as well as personal stories and memories, as well as ideas for the future. Abu Dhabi and Richard Mille’s alliance at the Louvre will be confirmed over the next ten years. Richard Mille has previously worked with the UAE, the main market for his products. The current retail price in the secondary market is US$100,000 (approximately AED 370,000) to USD 150,000.
