Sharjapan at Sharjah Art Foundation

Sharjapan will open Sharjapan’s third exhibition on Saturday, July 24, dedicated to Japanese art and cultural practices. The theme of Sharjapan is to keep calm: the loneliness and connectedness of Japanese architecture.

Curated by Hasegawa Yuko, the exhibition will reflect on the role of architecture in our lives by examining the work of Japanese architects. Inspired by the 13th-century poet Kamo no Chomei, the show explores its seclusion and how it functions as a spiritual prototype of Japanese architecture.

The show includes photographs of various architectural projects in Japan, sculpture models, multimedia installations, and drawings.

Sharjapan lasts until Friday, October 1.

Made in Tashkeel returns

Tashkeel’s annual group show returned this summer after a year-long hiatus. The exhibition showcased the work of Tashkeel members, workshop participants, and participating artists over the past two years.

In the 11th edition, Made in Tashkeel exhibited more than 65 works by more than 40 artists. The works on display showcase the members’ practice, from photography, mixed media, and sculpture to textile works, videos, installations, and calligraphy.
